Positive feedback: the response so far
Happy New Year!
What a year 2013 was for us. With over two years in the making and only a few months since the launch, it’s a good time to reflect upon the response so far.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Our launch coincided with the Plymouth Flavour Fest, where we sold pastis to the French and completely sold out of our gin on day 2! Despite the obvious comparison with bringing “coals to Newcastle” on the local radio, this was a successful start!
At the Dartmouth Food Festival we whipped up delicious cocktails in a hot air balloon basket and chef Richard Hunt (of the Grand Hotel, Torquay) created the perfect accompaniment to fresh oysters, using our pastis.
We celebrated with local businesses at the Cornwall Tourism Awards ceremony, by serving Quin and Tonics.
As part of the festive lineup, we supported the MacMillan charity event at Eden (look out for our spirits now available in the Eden shop); exhibited at the Cotehele Christmas Food Fair, where there was much Christmas cheer (and a 60-foot garland created using 40,000 flowers all grown in their garden); and took part in local events Padstow Christmas Market and Christmas at the Showground.
We won a Producer’s Bursary Award and took our spirits to London for the Good Food Show, bringing the flavour of the west to the capital.
Not only that, Tarquin’s Gin has been on an expedition to the Arctic’s Boothia Peninsular with Dr Huw Lewis-Jones and is now on its way to the Antarctic!
We are proud to announce that both Tarquin’s Gin and Cornish Pastis each won a silver medal at the Taste of the West Awards 2013.
It is one thing to have a vision. And quite another to bring this vision to life. Thank you everyone for such incredibly positive feedback! After all, we make our spirits for you to enjoy.
