WANTED: London Account Manager (full-time)
Outgoing craft spirits lover required to develop the London market, peddling Tarquin’s Gin & Cornish Pastis.

We’re looking for an outgoing and highly-motivated craft spirits lover to independently drive sales of Tarquin’s Gin & Cornish Pastis in London’s best bars, restaurants, hotels, and retailers.
A bit about us…
We’re a small, fast-growing and ambitious distillery based near Padstow in north Cornwall, looking to take the world by storm with our Tarquin’s Gin & Cornish Pastis.
We now have listings with several hundred accounts across the UK – including 5 star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants – and export to almost a dozen countries.

You might not know that we are running the first new gin distillery in the South West since Plymouth Gin. And first to make pastis in the UK!
Who are we?
Our distillery was founded by Tarquin, 29. A former City analyst who quit his desk job to do something more creative in life.
Though Marc, Tom and Carol might say the brains behind the operation is Athene, 33. A Chartered Accountant, diving fanatic and older sister to Tarquin.
It’s a young, relaxed and hard-working team. We like to work creatively and efficiently in our company. There is no boardroom, there aren’t any rules. If you have initiative, anything is possible.
Where do you fit in?
Our distillery and office are in Cornwall. You will work from home in London.
There are handful of us based in Cornwall and one in London. You will work in tandem with Marc, our South West Sales Manager, and Tom our former London Sales Manager turned Marketing & Export Manager.
You will be taking over from Tom’s role, where he has worked hard over the past 18 months to build our brand in the Capital. The role will involve a mix between managing existing accounts, and developing new accounts.
You will be working remotely and independently. It is primarily a field sales role. But events are also a core feature of the role too.
You will be required to be very flexible, and willing to travel.
What kind of person are we looking for?
You will have experience in the London drinks industry and an extensive network of industry connections.
You will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the drinks market: route to market, off-trade, on-trade.
You will be the face of the company (and our premium products) in London (when Tarquin is distilling). We need someone who is keen to break new ground, and also develop relationships with current customers.
We’re after the kind of person that enjoys public speaking, is outgoing, loves to meet new people, and that exudes passion for what they do.
Self-motivation, initiative, resilience and ambition are key. We need the kind of person that could sell English pastis to the French!
Perhaps most importantly, we’re after a hard-working, confident and flexible self-starter that can work independently in a results-orientated environment.
What are the job requirements?
You will need to be confident in creating and executing a sales/marketing plan (with Tarquin).
You will need to work well as part of a team, often remotely, and be highly independent.
You should be able to use Microsoft Excel, and learn to use CRM software – past experience is good.
You should be happy working under pressure to ambitious targets.
You will need to be flexible and adaptable.
You will need to be highly organised and strategic.
You will need to have bags of initiative, being able to make important decisions on your own.
You should have a holistic approach to promotion, with passion for the products, ethos and an understanding of what we can offer the South West drinks market.
Full UK driving licence.
Sales experience and/or university degree
What does the role involve?
The role is challenging and varied. No two days are likely to be the same. And ultimately you would be responsible for structuring the entire working week.
- Creating and executing a field sales and marketing plan.
- Generating premium on- and off-trade business, with meetings and tastings.
- Managing accounts of current listings, implementing incentives etc.
- Thorough and ever-growing knowledge of spirits so you can speak with confidence and contagious enthusiasm.
- Hosting events for trade and consumers (willing to travel throughout rest of UK and overseas potentially).
- Sampling at off-trade retailers and events.
- Training staff at accounts, maybe stirring/shaking a drink or two.
- Cold calling 7 – 10 accounts per day
- Hitting ambitious sales targets
- Working under pressure
- Updating detailed sales database daily
- Working remotely from HQ near Padstow.
- Social media.
- Opportunity to get involved with other aspects of marketing too, if interested.
Where does the job lead?
We’re a small company, but are expanding rapidly. You can be very entrepreneurial in this role. There is scope in the future to build and manage a team, and take on more responsibility as the company grows.
Your salary will be structured with a base, plus performance related bonuses.
On top of that, we will provide you with a phone, laptop, a regular supply of gin & pastis and training.
